I had a blown tire and needed help immediately. The staff was terrific. They walked me through what I needed to do in the future, offered great suggestions on changing a flat, and put two great tires on my bike. They also gave me additional information about bikes in general. Excellent customer service and reasonable prices. I would highly recommend.
I have been the Bicycle Place for the last 18 years, ALL what I can tell you, Mike Butchko is the most honest bike shop owner ever, He will me make you feel like family to him and his wonderful staff. I purchased over 8 bikes from him, He will go out of his way to get me what I want, He will never over charge you for anything, actually He will tell you what you need and not need for your smooth ride. Mike will open his shop every Sunday morning cold or hot to help the group ride needs.
I had shopped around for my kids bikes of course to get a deal, until couple month ago when I sow a group of cyclist road by me on Old Georgetown rd. They're the most polite group, they gave me so much respect as a female driver. So when I got home, I google the sponsor shop on the jersey. I manage to drive to the shop the same day when I met the Owner Mr. Butchko, that I told what I was looking for. He had by far the best selection on the kids bikes also the best prices. I highly recommend to do business with this gentleman.
I'll be honest, the first time I received service at this shop was on my road bike and they completed maintenance I hadn't asked for and I was charged more than I was expecting. Fast forward about a year later, and I decided to use this shop again because it is really my local shop. I had them to do some shifter and brake work on my bike. The mechanic I worked with gave me a call three times during the day he worked on my bike, to ask questions about what I wanted done, other parts, etc. It was absolutely the best service I've received at any shop. Complete different experience. I'm not sure if they've made changes in their customer service model or what, but it definitely seemed like a whole different experience. If you are local, I absolutely recommend you give them a try. Like anywhere, it is incumbent on you to be clear that you are okay with them doing certain things and not others and to make sure you really understand what is being explained to you. I found that if I do this, they patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions. Fantastic.
Love dealing with The Bicycle Place shop and will continue maintain my bikes with them.
I was told to visit the place if I need a maintenance work. So I went back in May and they are super friendly they call me in and explain everything about my bike problem. So If you want to go to a friendly place definitely I recommended. But if you want to get you stuff fix they are super pricy. I just need the shifters fix and they said yes no problem it's going to be $25 per shifter and $35 per installation of each plus tax for a total of almost $130. I definitely said no thanks. I took it to other place (different state) and they charge me $20 for both shifters ( Shimano) and extra brakes and cable lines and $40 for labor... Definitely was a good decision to not do it at this place. But MD is kind a expensive...
